What’s New In The Payara Platform January 2025 Release?

We’re excited to announce the latest releases across our Payara Platform lineup: Community 6.2025.1, Enterprise 5.71.0 and Enterprise 6.22.0. These releases bring significant improvements in a number of areas. We advanced system configuration, delivering greater flexibility and efficiency for your applications to help you build, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable applications with confidence.. Additionally, we’ve addressed key security concerns, bolstering the platform’s resilience against evolving threats, and delivered critical bug fixes to enhance overall stability and reliability.

New Administrative Commands in Payara Platform

Both Payara Platform Community and Enterprise editions now support two powerful new asadmin commands:

  • create-system-property: Enables dynamic system property configuration
  • create-jvm-option: Allows JVM option management directly through the command line.

Security Enhancement in Payara Platform Community 6.2025.1, Enterprise 5.71.0 and Enterprise 6.22.0

A notable security update implemented in the latest version addresses an issue where the HTTP Server was incorrectly processing header values containing disallowed characters. This fix strengthens the platform’s security and ensures proper request handling.

Critical Bug Fixes in Payara Platform

Several significant issues have been resolved:

  • HTTP/2 push capability now correctly serves resources
  • Fixed environmental entry injection when using @Resource with messageSelector activation-config-property
  • Enterprise 5.71.0 specifically addresses OpenMQ Broker startup issues with JDK 11+ in LOCAL mode

Component Updates across Payara Platform Editions

The platform components have been updated to their latest stable versions:

  • JSON-P API upgraded to 2.1.3
  • reactor-core updated to 3.7.1
  • jline.version bumped to 3.28.0
  • Payara Platform Enterprise 5.71.0 includes nimbus-jose-jwt update to 9.47.

These updates apply across the different versions as follows:

  • Payara Platform Community 6.2025.1: All general updates
  • Payara Platform Enterprise 5.71.0: Focus on stability with specific security patches
  • Payara Platform Enterprise 6.22.0: Comprehensive updates matching Payara Platform Community features.

All releases maintain backward compatibility while introducing these improvements. We encourage our users to update to these latest versions to benefit from enhanced security and improved functionality.
