Jakarta EE 11 - Coming Soon

Application server technology leader Payara Services is rolling out a preview of Jakarta EE 11 Milestone 4 with its latest release of Payara Platform Community 7 Alpha 2. This free-to-access release empowers development teams to explore and experiment with the latest features, supporting a smooth transition and swift adoption once the final Jakarta EE 11 specifications are officially released.

The latest release of the Jakarta EE Platform, Jakarta EE 11, is expected to deliver significant advancement in enterprise Java, offering a simplified framework, improved developer productivity and enhanced performance. Among many new features, Jakarta EE 11 will support the latest enhancements from Java 21, such as Virtual Threads.

Payara Platform Community 7 Alpha 2, which can be downloaded at https://www.payara.fish/downloads/payara-platform-community-edition/, offers a technological preview of Jakarta EE 11 Milestone 4 capabilities while the specifications are being developed. This alpha release is intended purely for testing and experimenting rather than for use in production. It is designed to help developers kickstart their understanding of the Jakarta EE 11 Platform, assess the compatibility with existing applications, and streamline the preparation for a transition to a more modern framework.

By using Payara Platform Community 7 Alpha 2, developers can explore most of the mandatory Jakarta EE 11 specifications. In addition, they can leverage Jakarta Servlet API 6.1 for advanced web container technology for enhanced performance, as well as key security features, such as Jakarta Authorization API 3.0 and Jakarta Authentication API 3.1.
