What’s New in the January 2023 Payara Platform Release?

Uncategorized

It’s January, and the Payara engineering bakery has been busy with the first release of the year. The Payara Platform Community 6.2023.1 release is hot out of the oven with 8 component upgrades, 1 improvement and 1 security fix. Payara Platform Enterprise 5.47.0 also comes with 14 component upgrades, 2 improvements, 3 bug fixes and 1 security fix.

You can download Payara Platform Community 6.2023.1here.

You can request Payara Platform Enterprise  5.47.0 here.

Remember: No More Payara 5 Community!

There was no Payara 5 Community stream release, as the last release was in December 2022. If you are still on that stream, you can request Payara 5 Enterprise here.

Payara 5 Enterprise will allow you to continue using Jakarta EE 8, whereas our new updated Payara 6 Community will only work withJakarta EE 10. With Payara Enterprise, you will also receive support directly from engineers, a 10-year software lifecycle, and guaranteed monthly releases, bug fixes and patches.

Notable Upgrades

There are a few key upgrades in the Payara Enterprise release this month:

  • You can now use environment variable referencing when setting the connector-connection-pool with asadmin.
  • JNA now works on Apple Silicon chips.
  • The start-up, post-boot deployment and post start-up phases have been streamlined for consistent behaviour.

And the bug fix:

  • Docker node instances can now resolve hostname for DAS.
