Official Microsoft Azure Sample for Payara Micro

Payara Server has a strong relationship with Microsoft Azure and the Java at Microsoft team – and now, there’s an official best practice Azure Sample for running Payara Micro on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)! 

This is a reaction to more and more Azure customers wanting to run Payara on Azure, with many moving from GlassFish to Payara Micro on AKS. It also precedes the next step for Azure and Payara:  releasing Payara Cloud as a PaaS running on Azure.

In his blog, Nate references how “Payara has long provided strong support for Azure through a number of resources including an excellent high-level datasheet about the Payara Platform on Azure that covers virtual machines, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Container Instances (ACI), and Azure App Service.”

Payara Cloud

Payara Cloud is our upcoming PaaS solution, extending the Jakarta EE model of taking care of infrastructure and operational tasks so developers can concentrate on coding. With Payara Cloud, we’ll be eliminating difficult tasks associated with running your apps on the cloud.

Payara Cloud allows you to simply select your war, click deploy, and watch your apps run on the cloud (Microsoft Azure) automatically, like magic. 

Applications following the Jakarta Web profile specification can be uploaded and will run in containerized Payara Micro instances. If the above sample is of interest, it may be that Payara Cloud could pose an even more straightforward solution, cutting out the Kubernetes aspect altogether!
